Meet the Team

At Tynedale Archers, our dedicated committee plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of the club and the continued growth of our community. From organizing events and training sessions to supporting members and overseeing club operations, our committee members are passionate about fostering a positive and inclusive environment for archers of all levels.

Each committee member brings unique experience, expertise, and enthusiasm to their role, and together, they work to provide the best possible experience for everyone involved in the club.

Chairman & Coach

John Hope

What does your role involve?
The everyday running of the club and holding beginners course’s.
When and how did you first get into archery?
I started archery so I could do sport with my children 20yrs ago
What’s your favourite thing about Tynedale archers?
Archery allowed me to be able to have a outdoor interest with my children and Tynedale Archers became like a second family, I am very proud of how Tynedale Archers has grown, after a lot of hard work the club has become a community within it’s self and it’s members are what makes the club a special club.
Please tell us a non-archery random fact about yourself?
I was a volunteer maths classroom assistant at St Josephs Middle School, Hexham.

Vice Chair, Treasurer, Armourer & Coach

Steve Clark

What does your role involve?
Help run the club and coach people to shoot archery also fix equipment.
When and how did you first get into archery?
Started archery about 2015/2016. My son wanted to try after doing archery on holiday. Signed up for the beginners course and was bitten by the bug
What’s your favourite thing about Tynedale archers?
Shooting arrows and the friendships formed with other members, also passing on the art of shooting arrows by coaching.
Please tell us a non-archery random fact about yourself?
I used to ride motorbikes and did a few track days.

Secretary

Peter Bell

What does your role involve?
Taking meeting minutes, distributing messages from other organisations such as DNAA, occasional admin
When and how did you first get into archery?
My eldest son returned to archery around 2018 and I brought him along and then decided to give it a try myself.
What’s your favourite thing about Tynedale archers?
Trying to beat your personal best and fellow club members during competitions (I said trying).
Please tell us a non-archery random fact about yourself?
I delivered one of my kids at the side of the road (Witton Gilbert) on the way to the hospital.

Junior Captain

Felicity Goldsmith

What does your role involve?
I am available for the young people in the club to offer help and support. I compete at local and national level, representing Tynedale Archers and DNAA.
When and how did you first get into archery?
I started shooting in 2017, I was 8 years old. A sporty family friend noticed I had very good hand eye coordination and he recommended my mam follow it up. At the time Tynedale Archer’s were holding a taster day. They’ve been stuck with me ever since!
What’s your favourite thing about Tynedale archers?
Tynedale Archers is a lovely, friendly group of people. I have always received so much support from everyone. John and Steve have coached me from the start and given me so much of their time. My favourite thing? Making them proud. Excellent people!
Please tell us a non-archery random fact about yourself?
I’m a total Swiftie! I know all the words!!
Tell us about your competition experience:
This year I have achieved gold and silver medals at Archery GB outdoor and indoor nationals. I hold various county records. I have recently been selected for a second year as an ambassador for Merlin Archery. Attending the different parts of archery (training, coaching and competitions) has really helped to improve my confidence and I have made friends all over the county. I hope I can show how much can be achieved by taking part in archery, especially with Tynedale Archers.

Denise Jordon

What does your role involve?

Assisting with coaching beginners sessions

When and how did you first get into archery?

I wanted a hobby outdoors and to meet new people, I saw an advert for the beginners session in the Tynedale express and fell in love with it straight away!

What’s your favourite thing about Tynedale archers?

In archery there is always something to learn or practice which means no 2 sessions are ever the same. The other members at Tynedale Archers make it a wonderful place to be and we are like one big family.

Please tell us a non-archery random fact about yourself?

I play the saxophone and flute.

Competitions

Rob Say

What does your role involve?

Supporting any club members interested in participating in local competitions, recording scores & managing classifications and coordinating any team entries. I’ve also ended up as the Tournament Organiser for the DNAA County indoor in 2025.

When and how did you first get into archery?

I went along to a beginners course with my son in 2021 and was looking for a relaxing and active past-time. At the time I had no intentions to compete – which may come as a surprise to many!

What’s your favourite thing about Tynedale archers?

Everyone shoots for different reasons – and we all support each other

Please tell us a non-archery random fact about yourself?

When not shooting arrows I make & play the Northumbrian Smallpipes.

SOCIAL SECRETARY

Keith Mundy

What does your role involve?

Arranging social events for members.

When and how did you first get into archery?

I joined the 2022 second beginners course, as I was looking for a new hobby that got me outside and I wasn’t allowed a dog. I really enjoyed the course and then became a member of the club.

What’s your favourite thing about Tynedale archers?

The great banter between members and Tynedale Archers is a great club.

Please tell us a non-archery random fact about yourself?

I am a tutor with an Advanced Driving Club in Tynedale.

Web officer

Teresa Jordon

What does your role involve?

Managing and updating the club website.

When and how did you first get into archery?

I had tried archery at a local activity centre and really enjoyed it, my sister then signed us up to a beginners course, we were both bitten by the archery bug!

What’s your favourite thing about Tynedale archers?

I really enjoy learning something at every session with a great bunch of people, who are all really supportive. The whole club is made up of a brilliant group of people.

Please tell us a non-archery random fact about yourself?

I have abseiled off the top of Table Mountain and cage dived with great white sharks in Cape Town.

Julie Thomson

What does your role involve?

Taking members views to the rest of the committee and ways in which to encourage growth within the club.

When and how did you first get into archery?

Family members participated in a beginners course so the following year 2023 I enrolled on one.

What’s your favourite thing about Tynedale archers?

No two shoots are the same. Friendliness!

Please tell us a non-archery random fact about yourself?

Played rugby for Scotland A ladies team many years ago…………..Maybe should have stuck to rugby!!

Lee Henson

What does your role involve?

Partaking in committee meetings, bringing suggestions and supporting club activities.

When and how did you first get into archery?

I think it was April 2023 that my son and I did the beginners course after Julie mentioned Davey did archery in a conversation the previous autumn, it had been something I’d previously thought could be fun so got in touch with the club via email.

What’s your favourite thing about Tynedale archers?

I enjoy the meditative practice of archery. And as far as the club specifically, I enjoy the group dynamic and the good atmosphere.

Please tell us a non-archery random fact about yourself?

I won a holiday to America as a child, through a cat food tin, that’s pretty random.
