We will be running two Beginners Courses this year which will each last 5 weeks. The Spring course will be from 4th May 2025, and the Summer course will be from 29th June 2025.

Our Beginners Course
At Tynedale Archers, we offer a comprehensive beginners course designed to introduce you to the exciting world of archery. Whether you’re looking for a fun new hobby, a way to challenge yourself, or simply want to try something different, our course is the perfect starting point. We currently hold Spring and Summer Beginners courses, please use the form below to register your interest.
1. A Warm Welcome
From the moment you arrive, you’ll be greeted by friendly coaches and fellow beginners. We take pride in creating an inclusive and supportive environment, so whether you’ve never picked up a bow before or have a little experience, you’ll feel right at home.
2. Expert Coaching
Our experienced coaches will guide you step by step through the fundamentals of archery. You’ll receive one-on-one attention to ensure that you are learning the proper techniques from the very beginning.
Expect to learn:
- The correct posture and stance
- How to properly handle a bow and arrow
- Basic aiming techniques
- Safety protocols on and off the range
Our coaches will work with you at your own pace, making sure you gain confidence as you develop your skills.
3. Hands-On Experience
This course is all about practical learning. You’ll spend plenty of time on the range practicing shooting techniques. We’ll start with the basics and gradually introduce more advanced skills as you improve. You’ll also receive feedback after each shot to help you make adjustments and track your progress.
4. Safety First
Safety is our top priority. We’ll walk you through the essential safety rules, from handling equipment properly to ensuring a safe shooting environment. You’ll learn how to respect both the equipment and your fellow archers, making sure everyone has a positive and safe experience.
5. Fun and Social Atmosphere
Archery is as much about having fun as it is about learning new skills. During the course, you’ll have the opportunity to meet new people who share your interest. Many of our beginners go on to form lasting friendships, both on and off the range, as they continue their archery journey.
6. Equipment Provided
Don’t worry if you don’t have your own archery gear! We provide all the necessary equipment during the course, including bows, arrows, and targets. Our gear is carefully selected to ensure comfort and ease for beginners, and our coaches will help you choose the right equipment as you progress.
7. Progression and Next Steps
At the end of the course, you’ll have the skills and knowledge to join our regular practice sessions. If you’re interested in advancing further, we offer opportunities for additional coaching, participation in club events, and even entering competitions as your skills grow.
You’ll also receive a certificate of completion, marking the start of your archery journey!
